After reading a recent letter to the editor, I decided to share my two cents. Former/failed President Biden was a big supporter of DEI during his term. He openly stated that he wanted to pick a “Black female” to be his vice-president running mate. By doing so, he discriminated against every Democratic hopeful who was not a Black female. This meant that Black males, Hispanic males, white females, white males, Hispanic females, and all other males or females of any other ethnicity need not apply… oh yeah, I forgot about those who were transvestites and/or not sure if they wanted to be a member of the opposite sex. How was this fair or equitable?
In regards to the recent lay-off of 4,000 federal workers, I don’t think President Trump made a list of these workers by their political affiliation and decided to just lay off the Democratic ones. He did target what he called Democratic government programs like Food Stamp/SNAP. I think he plans to cut around $186 billion over the next few years from this program and add a work requirement. People should not be rewarded with free food for having 3-5 illegitimate children so they can qualify for $300-$900 in free groceries every month. This program has been badly abused for many decades and this abuse needs to be stopped. In Mississippi alone, around 380,000 people received SNAP benefits last year. Able-bodied people should have to work and pay for what they get, just like all the rest of us who’ve done so our entire lives. In my opinion, our federal government should also create a new program to provide food assistance to retirees who have contributed taxes to our government during their working careers. This would be a worthy program to reward the productive retired citizens of our great nation.
