It’s interesting to note that when a Black family opens a business of any type of entertainment, most of the problems come from local authorities claiming they can show up and do anything they please, with and without a search warrant or even if they aren’t called to the establishment, conduct walk-throughs without talking to owners of the building or security on duty. I stated all of the above to say that my family recently purchased a building on Highway 373 and named it, using it as a restaurant and events place, having trouble from the sheriff department on the very first day of an event given, with officials stating that they are going to shut us down if it’s the last thing they do. My question is what have my family done or is doing for the sheriff department to have such a bad and negative attitude? Every time they show up with a group of officers and get mad when the owners ask questions and going as far to put handcuffs on my son and placed him in a patrol car for no reason, except my son asking about his rights before being charged for any type of crimes. In the process of putting him in handcuffs, he was given some kind of citation, trying to make everything legal under the law, when there was no crime to charge him for, as we all have seen before from police officials all over the city and county. By the way, one of the officers stated with anger again that he’s going to do all he can to shut us down! Again, I ask for what unknown reason. Let us know. We’d like to try to resolve the problem. Give us a chance! We’re legal.
