Over the past six years a bright light of positivity has emerged in our community, bringing awareness of the many ministries and organizations seeking to make a difference in Lowndes County. Giving over $220,000 to twelve diverse non-profits, this synergetic movement has grown in its “impact” in our community year by year.
100 Women Who Care Columbus has grown from a seedling to an oak in this short time, awarding Impact Grants to 12 worthy recipients. Just ask the board members of Homeless Coalition how this grant jumpstarted their efforts or the Humane Society or the Good Samaritan Center or any of the agencies and ministries who have been blessed with the monies.
100 Women is fueled by simple $100 donations from individual women interested in supporting our community efforts. In the beginning the goal was to have 100 women respond to allow for an Impact Award of $10,000, but very quickly that number grew. There are now over 200 women who are contributors, allowing 100 Women to award $20,000 and more to the organizations.
As a recipient of the last Impact Award, our ministry has been able to help more and more poor, marginalized, and struggling families and individuals. St. Vincent de Paul Society received $20,000 in October and has used that money to expand our dental, car repair, and medical assistance to clients. The grant came at a time when we were having to drastically cut our services.
We are extremely grateful for the hard work and dedication of 100 Women Who Care in Lowndes County for what they are doing to support and expand non-profits. There is much to be grateful for in our hometown. This organization brings light and life.
