COLUMBUS — Zettie Lee Shelton, 85, died Dec. 8, 2025, at Baptist Memorial Hospital-Golden Triangle. 

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, at Union Chapel Baptist Church in Brooksville, with the Rev. James Rice officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be from 1-5 p.m. Friday, at Lee-Sykes Funeral Home. Lee-Sykes Funeral Home of Columbus is in charge of arrangements. 

Mrs. Shelton was born April 10, 1940, in Noxubee County, to the late Anderson and Rosie Lee Shelton. She attended Alcorn State University and Mississippi State University. She was formerly employed with the Columbus Municipal School District and was a member of Union Chapel Baptist Church. 

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Elberta Shelton Brown.

She is survived by her siblings, Gertrude Maby, Wilbur Shelton and Morris Shelton. 

Pallbearers will be Tomy Hairston, Reggie Hairston, Johnny Cockrell Jr., Shannon Brim Cockrell, Lamorris Shelton and Reginald Shelton.
