Ike Winston Savelle, Jr, 70, of Columbus, MS, passed away on March 26, 2026.

He was born on September 10, 1955, in Columbus, MS, to Ike and Willa Savelle. He graduated from Mississippi State University in 1977 with a Bachelor’s in Forestry, and achieved a Master’s in Forestry at MSU in 1979. He worked for numerous employers during his career in forestry including NASA, the Mississippi Forestry Extension Service, Georgia-Pacific, and Bureau Veritas. In addition to his love of forestry, he was an avid outdoorsman as an owner and member of the Hairston Bend Hunting Club. He served dutifully in the Mississippi National Guard for 20 years achieving the rank of Major

Winston is survived by his wife, Bonny; and his son, Trey.

A visitation will be held at Memorial Funeral Home 716 2nd Ave North, in Columbus, MS, on Tuesday, March 31 from 4pm-8pm.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the donor’s choice.
