COLUMBUS — Willie Mildred Bash Spann, 82, died April 13, 2026, at her residence.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, at Greater Mt. Olive M.B. Church in Crawford, with Donald Henry officiating. Burial will follow at the church cemetery. Visitation is from 2-6 p.m Friday at Carter’s Funeral Services. Carter’s Funeral Services of Columbus is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Spann was born Oct. 24, 1943, in Starkville, to the late Curtis and Sadie Bash. She was formerly employed with Johnston Tombigbee Furniture Company and was a member of Truevine M.B Church and Greater Mt. Olive M.B. Church.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Curly Spann; and siblings, Jeanette Wallace, Andrew Lee Bush, Sonny Cunningham and Eddie Walker.

She is survived by her children, Connie Buckhalter of Columbus and Earnest Bash of Columbia, Tennessee; step-children, Juanita Spann and Curtis Spann, both of Columbus; siblings, Walter C. Wallace of Grand Rapids, Michigan, James Wallace of Greensboro, Alabama, Linda Bush of Birmingham, Tommie Johnson of Jackson, and Sammie Fulton of Flint, Michigan; six grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers are Jalain Cunningham, Otis Wallace, Ormond Wallace, Calvin Hubbard, Brandon Sanders and Maurice Sanders Jr.
