NOXUBEE COUNTY — Willie Edward “Sonny” Spann Sr., 77, died Jan. 5, 2026, at Baptist Memorial Hospital-Golden Triangle.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, at Cedar Grove M.B. Church in Macon, with Eric Ratliff officiating. Burial will follow at the church cemetery. No visitation will be held. Carter’s Funeral Services of Macon is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Spann was born Aug. 16, 1948, in Noxubee County, to the late George Spann and Juanita Goodwin Spann. He was a member of Cedar Grove M.B. Church.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Jean Marie Brownridge Spann; daughter, Dianna Franklin; brother, Jessie Will Spann; and one grandchild.

He is survived by his children, WIllie Spann Jr. of Nashville, Tennessee, Mona and Tiffany Spann, both of Macon, and Tashika McQueen of Columbus; sister, Betty Tippett of Macon; 10 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers are Taquarics Brewer, Rodney Roby, David Brandon, Broderick Prince, Anthony Jackson, Derrick Prince, Antonio Patterson and Raheem Stewart.
