COLUMBUS — Willie Robinson, 70, died Dec. 8, 2017. Services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at New Baptist Temple Church with Rev. L.A. Gardner officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation is from noon to 6:30 p.m. at Lee-Sykes Funeral Home. Lee-Sykes Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Mr. Robinson was born Jan. 2, 1947, in Columbus, to the late Rev. Thomas “T.H.” Sr. and Mary Francis Robinson. He was a 1966 graduate of R.E. Hunt High School and received Tool and Die certification from EMCC in 1968. He was formerly employed as a Tool and Die Maker at United Technologies for 35 years and as a Manufacturing Technician at Holcim for 7 years. After retirement, he became an independent catfish farmer. He also was one of the first fire chiefs and founding member of the Concord Community Volunteer Fire Department and also served as an EMT. He was a member of New Baptist Temple M. B. Church. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Alvin Robinson. He is survived by his wife, Beauty Pearl Robinson of Columbus; four children, Lora Spann of Columbus, Gail Brandon and Willie Robinson, Jr., both of Huntsville, Alabama, and DeAnna Wilson of Madison; five brothers, Thomas Robinson of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Percy Robinson of Port Gibson, Ernie Robinson of Madison, Alabama, Eddie Robinson and Cleophus Robinson, both of Columbus; two sisters, Lurine Simelton and Ruby Patterson, both of Columbus; seven grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. Pallbearers will be Dominique Taylor, Brandon Spann, Dustin Taylor, Brenton Spann, Isaiah Wilson, Noah Wilson, Kearick Patterson, Kameron Patterson and Bobby Sanders.
