COLUMBUS — Willie George Morton, 75, died on April 24, 2023, at Baptist Memorial Hospital — Golden Triangle.

Funeral services will be at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, at Word Church International Ministries. Burial will follow at Memorial Garden Cemetery. Visitation will be from 1-6 p.m. Friday, at Hairston-Hairston Funeral Home. Hairston-Hairston Funeral Home of Columbus is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Morton was born on June 18, 1947, in Columbus, to the late Willie Ketter Morton and Harriet Lee Morton. He was formerly employed at Omnova Solutions.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters, Rosie Starkling and Betty Frieson. 

He is survived by his wife, Shirley Morton; children, Kimberly Lak’a Morton Williams, Tamera Natasha Johnson, Willie Ketter Morton, Ciera Nikita Taylor; sisters, Martha Shelton, Pearlie Mae Morton, Luberta Wright and Bertha McCoy; and 11 grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Reginald Morton, Derek Write, Rafael Roland, Reggie Moore, Donovan Morton, James Wright Jr. and Michael Morton Starkling.
