ANDERSON, S.C. — Elder William Wallace Sr., 89, died June 5, 2026.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, at Glenn Chapel C.M.E. Church, with the Rev. Dr. Geraldine A. Daniels officiating. Burial will follow at Union Cemetery. Visitation is from 2-6 p.m. Friday at Carter’s Funeral Services. Carter’s Funeral Services of Columbus is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Wallace was born Sept. 29, 1936, in Lowndes County, to the late Willie and Mary Sue Wallace. He attended Mitchell Memorial Elementary School and Union Academy and was a 1956 graduate of Robert E. Hunt High School, a graduate of Mississippi Industrial College in Holly Springs, attended the University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa, a graduate of New Hope Bible College and McNeese State University in Lake Charles, Louisiana. He was formerly employed as Director and Resource Person for HeadStart and served as Dean of the Louisiana Leadership Training School and the Mississippi Leadership Training School, as Treasurer and Chairman of the Joint Board of Finance of the South Louisiana Conference and a member of the Joint Board of FInance of the Carolina and the Southeast Alabama Conferences. He also served on the Board of Missions, the Christian Index, the Board of Christian Education and as pastor of Christian Methodist Espicapol churches in Louisiana, Mississippi, South Carolina, Tennessee and Alabama.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Beatrice Brooks Wallace; sons, David B. Wallace and Michael M. Wallace; and sister, Bernice Powell. He is survived by his children, Dr. William Wallace Jr., of Williamsburg, Virginia, Karl Wallace of Spartanburg, South Carolina, and Tina Lee of Anderson; brothers, Willie Wallace Jr. of Boston, Massachusetts, and Willie Roy Wallace of Columbus; seven grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers are Andre Brooks, Darron Brooks, James Jennings, Gerald Jones, Roger Lutcher IV and Roy Wallace.
