LAKE CITY, Fla. — William V. “Bill” Vaughn Jr., 91, died June 25, 2025, at his residence.
Funeral services will be at noon Tuesday at Brooksville Baptist Church in Brooksville. A private family burial will be held. Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the church. Cockrell Funeral Home of Macon is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Vaughn was born March 6, 1934, in Tupelo, to the late Vivian and Lone “McGuire Vaughn. He was a 1952 graduate of Tupelo schools, a graduate of Mississippi Southern University, and a 1968 graduate of New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary. He was a veteran of the United States Army, serving as a pilot and Captain. He was formerly employed as a teacher and served as a missionary and preacher.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Mary D. Vaughn; son, William V. “Thumper” Vaughn III; and one step-grandchild.
He is survived by his wife, June; children, Vickey of Soddy Daisy, Tennessee, Ellen of Masfield, Ohio, and James of Columbus; stepchildren, Sherry and Lloyd of Lake City; brother, John of Tupelo; four grandchildren; six step-grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and eight step-great-grandchildren.
