NOXUBEE COUNTY — Walter “Walt Daddy” Hairston, 78, died Nov. 28, 2025, at Baptist Memorial Hospital-Golden Triangle.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, at Mt. Carmel M.B. Church in Macon, with Jack Vaughn officiating. Burial will follow at Friendship Church Cemetery. Visitation is from 2-5 p.m. Friday at Carter’s Funeral Services. Carter’s Funeral Services of Macon is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Hairston was born Sept. 21, 1947, in Noxubee County, to the late James and Mattie Lee Hairston. He was a member of Mt. Carmel M.B. Church.

He is survived by his wife, Maggie Hairston of Macon; children, Felicia Hairston Jones, and Timothy Mitchell, both of Columbus, Velda Skinner and Kendall Chandler, both of Macon, Aisha Hopkins of Cordova, Tennessee, and Marvin Hairston of Chicago, Illinois; and siblings, Mary Smith and Mattie Harris, both of Crawford, Ethel Harris of Columbus, and Annie Will Spann of Muskegon, Michigan.
