Virgie McDill

CALEDONIA — Virgie Iline “Granny Grump” McDill, 83, died March 26, 2026, at The Windsor Place in Columbus.
Funeral services were at 3 p.m. Sunday, at Otts Funeral Home Chapel, with Chris Stockman officiating. Burial followed at Rowan Cemetery. Visitation was from 6-8 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Otts Funeral Home of Sulligent, Alabama, was in charge of arrangements.
Ms. McDill was born June 6, 1942, in Pickens County, to the late Morris McDill and Lorrine McDowell. She was formerly employed in the garment industry with Glenn Manufacturing and was a member of Caledonia Church of Christ.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sons, Anthony Wayne Underwood and Charles Underwood; and siblings, Betty Kyles, Rachel Rowell and John McDill.
She is survived by her daughter, Theresa White of Vernon; siblings, Nettie Edmonds of Smithville, Sandra Childs of Millport, Barbara Dillard, Armon McDill and Jerry McDill, all of Caledonia, and Waymon McDill of Vernon; eight grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers were James McIntyre, Jake Fowler, CJ Stockman, Steve McDill, Shay McDill and Shawn McDill.
