MCDONOUGH, Ga. — Dr. Tywanda Faye Stewart Smart, 64, died April 11, 2026, in Fayetteville, Georgia.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, at Oak Grove M.B. Church, with Therman Cunningham officiating. Visitation is from 3-6 p.m. Friday at Carter’s Funeral Services. Carter’s Funeral Services of Columbus is in charge of arrangements.
Dr. Smart was born April 23, 1961, in Columbus, to Frances Jones Stewart and the late Fred Stewart Jr. She was a graduate of S.D. Lee High School, Jackson State University, Cambridge College, and Argosy University. She was formerly employed as an educator in Phoenix, Arizona, and Mississippi, and with Mt. Zion Primary School in Clayton.
In addition to her mother, she is survived by her children, Francie Maupin, Crystal Smart, Diamond Smart and Brian Maupin; siblings, Dr. Cynthia Brown, Vanessa Stewart, Yolanda Campbell and Melodie Cunningham; and one grandchild.
Pallbearers are Durrell Williams, Kerrold Ellis, Eric Turner, David Hairston, Demetrice Leigh, Markell Maupin, Brian Maupin Jr., Wesley Campbell Jr., Daniel Cockrell, Alfred Walker III, Kendrick Cockrell and Klaus Gore.
