COLUMBUS — Shameka White James, 45, died Oct. 1, 2025.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, at Sixth Avenue M.B. Church, with David Jefferson Johnson Jr. officiating. Visitation will be from 12-5 p.m. Friday, at Lee-Sykes Funeral Home. Lee-Sykes Funeral Home of Columbus is in charge of arrangements.  

Mrs. James was born June 27, 1980, in Columbus, to Dorothy White and the late Robert White Sr. She was a graduate of Mississippi University for Women and was formerly employed as a teacher. 

In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Robert White Jr. and Fredrick DeWayne White. 

In addition to her mother, she is survived by her sisters, Linda Brown of Memphis, Tennessee, Melissa Johnson of Columbus and LeTashia White of Southaven; and brothers, Gevoris McCrary of Indianapolis, Indiana, and Steven Sanders of Columbus.
