REFORM, Ala. — Sarah Alice Latham Gardner, 87, died Nov. 26, 2025, in Tuscaloosa,  Alabama. 

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, at Christian Hope M.B. Church in Reform, with Bobby L. McCarter Sr. officiating. Burial will follow at Holly Grove Church cemetery. Visitation will be from 1-5 p.m. Saturday, at Carter’s Funeral Services. Carter’s Funeral Services of Columbus is in charge of arrangements. 

Mrs. Gardner was born July 18, 1938, in McShan, Alabama, to the late Willie Latham and Lovie Latham. She was formerly employed at Johnston Tombigbee Furniture Company and was a member of Christian Hope M.B. Church. 

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Joe Ross Gardner; daughters, Nancy Jones, Opel Marie Jones and Alice Ruth Jones; siblings, James Latham, Jimmy Latham, Jessie Mack Latham, Thomas E. Latham, Etoyia Spruill and Hattie Smith.

She is survived by her children, Willie Jones of Columbus, Henry Jones, Billy Gardner, Joseph Gardner, Sarah Wells, all of Reform, Joyce Gardner of Gordo, Alabama, and Lizzie Gardner of Tuscaloosa; siblings, Johnny B. Latham of Columbus and Viola Harris of Aliceville, Alabama; and 38 grandchildren. 

Pallbearers will be Tyrell Mayberry, Demarian Gardner, Terrell Gardner, Dante Harris, Tim Thomas, Jason Davis, Earlie Jones, Eric Jones, TJ Jones, Jonathan Jones, Henry Jones and Brian Stansel.
