SULLIGENT, Ala. — Ruth Stanford Spruiel, 87, died June 26, 2025.

Funeral services are at 2 p.m. Wednesday, at First Baptist Church in Detroit, with Glenn Boman officiating. Burial will follow at Carter Cemetery. Visitation is one hour prior to services at the church. Otts Funeral Home of Sulligent is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Spruiel was born Dec. 1, 1937, in Lamar County, to the late Lester L. and Vernie Clifton Stanford. She was formerly employed as a banker with First State Bank of the South

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth Eldred Spruiel; son, Stephen L. Spruiel; and sister, Faye S. Blaylock.

She is survived by her children, Myra Spruiel Roberts and Tommy E. Spruiel; sisters, Shirley Stanford Nolen and Dorothy Stanford Taylor six grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
