Roy Whitehead, age 82, of Columbus, MS, passed away Monday June 30, 2025, at Baptist Memorial Hospital, Columbus.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.

Mr. Whitehead was born on September 1, 1942, to the late Roy and Georgia Whitehead. He worked at United Technologies and retired after 33 years of service. He attended Victory Free Will Baptist Church. Roy loved working outside, tending to his garden, and taking care of his goats and chickens. Everyone referred to his as “The Old Goat”.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by three brothers; one sister; and his son, Scott Whitehead.

Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Jean Whitehead; sister, Erma Booth; brother, Billy Joe Whitehead; grandchildren, Lesley Vail and Lindsey Beard; great-grandchildren, Jax Vail, Elliana Vail, Brixton Vail, Jesse Beard and Beckett Beard.
