SULLIGENT, Ala. – Roy Thomas, 73, died May 7, 2026, at his residence. 

Funeral services were at 2 p.m. Monday, at Otts Funeral Home, with Philip Blaylock officiating. Burial followed in Wofford Cemetery. Visitation was one hour prior to service at the funeral home. Otts Funeral Home of Sulligent was in charge of arrangements. 

Mr. Thomas was born on September 24, 1952, in Vernon, to the late George Thomas and Della Benefield Thomas. He was a 1972 graduate of Lamar County High School and was a veteran of the Alabama National Guard. He was a member of People’s Tabernacle in Sulligent.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Sue Stockman Thomas; and his siblings, James Wesley “Bud” Thomas and Emily Faye Thomas. 

He is survived by his daughter, Tobie Higgins; brothers, Brooks Thomas of Vernon, Alabama, and Billy Thomas of Fayette, Alabama; sisters, Kathy Sullivan of Hamilton, Alabama, and Dorothy Mandy of Arkansas; and one grandchild. 

Pallbearers were Marty Stockman, Chris Stockman, Dale Stockman, Christopher Lucas, Thomas Sullivan and Randy Thomas.
