MACON — Rosemella W. Gilkey, 93, died Oct. 24, 2025, at her residence. 

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, at New Zion Baptist Church, with Stephen Sykes officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation is from 1-5 p.m. Friday at Lee-Sykes Funeral Home. Lee-Sykes Funeral Home of Macon is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Gilkey was born May 15, 1937, in Noxubee County, to the late Robert and Eva Woods. She was a member of  New Zion Baptist Church. 

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, OC Gilkey; sons, Robert Gilkey Jr., Robert Lee Gilkey, Sam Gilkey, Kendall Gilkey and Timothy Gilkey; brother, Charlie; and sister, Dorothy.

She is survived by her children, Ollie, Delois, Terry and Teresa; and grandchildren. 

Pallbearers will be Marvin Dale Jr., Cleveland Moore, Patrick Harris, Mark Naylor, Kelvin Smith, Melvin Conner and Archie Bradley.
