Roosevelt Bridges

COLUMBUS — Roosevelt Bridges, 83, died May 29, 2026, at his residence.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, at the Trotter Convention Center, with the Rev. Sonny Bridges officiating. Visitation will be from 2-5 p.m. Saturday, at St. James United Methodist Church of Columbus. Lee-Sykes Funeral Home of Columbus is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Bridges was born December 1, 1942, in Silver Creek, to the late Julius and Corene Bridges. He was a graduate of McCullough High School, Rust College and Mississippi State University and was formally employed as an administrator and coach. He was a member of St. James United Methodist Church.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings, Mary Lou Gaies and Julius Bridges Jr.
He is survived by his wife, Janice Jones Bridges; siblings, Annie Hill, Willene Peyton, Narcissie Payton, Geneva Walton, Jerry Bridges, Rev. Sonny Bridges, Ralph Bridges, Jimmy Ray Bridges, Eloise Tucker and Deborah Starks; children, Angela, Shun, Kori and Krystal; and eight grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Tony Bridges, Mario Bridges, Willie Walton Jr., Keith Bridges, Anthony McSwain, Ja’Quia Bridges, Julius Bridges, LaBarraus Bridges, Jerry Bridges Jr. and Daurius Starks.
