Ronald “Ron” Watson Whitten
Date of notice: December 9, 2025
Ron Whitten, 74, passed away peacefully at his home in Germantown, TN, on November 17, 2025, surrounded by love.
Ron had a gift for making people feel seen, welcomed, and valued. His quick humor, easy smile, and genuine kindness stayed with him throughout his life, and he truly never met a stranger. A faithful member of Germantown Baptist Church, his faith and friendships were central to who he was.
He grew up in Columbus, graduating from Lee High School and later attending East Mississippi Junior College. Ron went on to build a long and dedicated career with United Parcel Service, ultimately serving as Division Manager before retiring. He carried the same integrity and work ethic into everything he did, both professionally and personally.
Ron loved sports from an early age and was an avid baseball and basketball player. Whether on the field, the court, or cheering from the sidelines later in life, he found joy in the game and in the people around him.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Mary Whitten Hammett, and his father, Earlie Whitten. Ron leaves behind the love of his life and wife of 53 years, Debbie; his son, Tanner (Brittney) Whitten; his daughter, Laura Beth (Kyle) Scott; and four grandchildren, who brought him immeasurable joy— Parker and Hunter Scott, and Blake and Juliette Whitten. He is also survived by his sisters, Pat Butler, Lisa Hammett, Angie Reynolds, and Susan Nix, all of whom he loved dearly.
Ron’s family will honor his life with a celebration at a later date, where his laughter, stories, and the love he shared will be remembered with grateful hearts.
