MACON — Deacon Robert James Taylor Sr., 85, died July 16, 2025, at his residence.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, at Springhill Baptist Church, with Montrell Rucker officiating. Burial will follow at the church cemetery. Visitation is from 1-5 p.m. Friday at Lee-Sykes Funeral Home Chapel. Lee-Sykes Funeral Home of Macon is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Taylor was born March 27, 1940, in Noxubee County, to the late George and Mary Cole Taylor. He was formerly employed with Jonesboro Part Service and was a member of Springhill Baptist Church.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings, Willie Lue Stevenson, Nancy Taylor, Hue Lee Taylor and Otha Taylor.
He is survived by his wife, Sallie Taylor of Macon; sons, Robert Taylor Jr. and Edward Taylor; seven stepchildren; siblings, Lucille Taylor of Macon, May Taylor, Earl, Arthur, Johnny, George Jr. and Tommie Taylor, all of Chicago, Illinois; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Larry Cunningham, Jimmy Cunningham, Johnny Cunningham, Pierre Donaby, Antwane Tate and Michael Taylor.
