STARKVILLE — Richard “Blue Moon” James Roberson, 66, died Sept. 18, 2020. Graveside service will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, in Bethel Cemetery, with the Rev. Charles Brown officiating. Visitation will be from 2-5 p.m. Friday, at Hairston and Hairston Funeral Home. Hairston and Hairston Funeral Home of Starkville is in charge of arrangements. Mr. Roberson was born March 10, 1954, in Crawford, to the late Katie Coldin and Walter Roberson. He was formerly employed as a brick mason and was a member of Pine Grove Missionary Baptist Church. He is survived by his wife, Grace Ann Roberson; children, Anthony Peterson of Dallas, Texas, Derrick Jordan of Columbus, Richard Roberson Jr of Charlotte, North Carolina, Deirdre Jordan Applewhite of Hattiesburg and Tara Conyers of Starkville; sister, Queen Colberty of Atlanta; six grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
