Richard Priddy

Richard William Priddy, age 70, died September, 2nd at the VA Nursing Home in Oxford, MS, where he had been living. He passed away from Alzheimer’s Disease.
He was born on December 10th, 1953, in San Antonio, TX, to the late Don Priddy, and Betty
Anderson Priddy. He was a very proud Texan. Also preceding him in death were sisters, Leslie Priddy Spielhagen and Lindsey Priddy Tenorio.
He is survived by the love of his life, his wife of 43 years, Anita Newman Priddy of Columbus, MS; daughter, Kirsti (Chris) Wright, of Tupelo, MS; son, Matthew (Lauren) Priddy, of Starkville, MS; grandsons, Colin Knox Wright, Kameron Wright and Walter Priddy; his sisters, Donna (John) Robertson of Burnet, TX, Georgia (Charles) Livingston of Austin, TX, Brian (Hara) Priddy of Houston, TX; brother-in- law, Mark Newman of Westbury, England; and many nieces and nephews.
Richard served 20 years proudly in the United States Air Force, as a Communications Specialist. He was stationed at Barksdale AFB, LA; RAF Fairford, UK; Williams AFB, AZ; Zweibruecken AB, Germany; and finally Columbus AFB, MS. Upon retirement in 1993, he worked at the United States Post Office in Starkville, MS as a mail carrier for 5 years, before joining the Civil Service, working both at Columbus AFB and Patrick AFB, FL.
Twenty years later he finally retired and was looking forward to working in the garden and traveling as much as possible. He also loved going to concerts, walking on the beach, and driving long distances to see friends and family. He never met a stranger, and was looking forward to meeting as many as possible.
Honorary Pallbearers are the amazing staff at the VA Nursing Home in Oxford, MS, who treated him like a King.
There will be a Celebration of Life on Saturday, September 28th at 3:30 at the Lee Home, 316 7th St N, Columbus MS.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, and/or the VA Nursing Home in Oxford, MS in honor of Richard Priddy.
