SULLIGENT, Ala. — Richard Lee Mixon Jr., 83, died Jan. 17, 2026, at North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo.

Funeral services were at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday, at Otts Funeral Home Chapel, with Jerry Oakes and Angela Metcalfe officiating. Graveside services and burial followed at Sulligent City Cemetery. Visitation was from 1-2:30 p.m. prior to services at the funeral home. Otts Funeral Home of Sulligent was in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Mixon was born Aug. 23, 1942, in Beaverton, to the late Richard Lee Mixon Sr. and Ola Weeks Mixon. He was a 1962 graduate of Sulligent High School and was formerly employed with McCoy Manufacturing, Reltoc, and NACCO.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Sonya Leigh Mixon; and brothers, Jack D. Mixon, Sgt. Herman L. Mixon and an infant brother.

He is survived by his wife, Carol Mixon of Sulligent; son, Richard Jayson Mixon of Sulligent; and sisters, Mary Sue Mixon Haney of Hamilton and Aileen Dailey Robertson of Jasper.

Pallbearers were Luke Lann, Daniel Lann, Wally Haney, Phillip Taylor, Donald Jones and Johnny Law.
