WEST POINT — Perry Joseph Davis, 79, died June 20, 2025, at his residence. 

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, at Union Star M.B. Church, with Gregory Pegues officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be from 4-5 p.m. Monday, at the church. Carter’s Mortuary Services of West Point is in charge of arrangements. 

Mr. Davis was born May 4, 1946, in West Point, to the late Henry Davis and Lucille Halbert-Davis. He was formerly employed as a B fitter welder and a farmer. 

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, William Henry Davis and Leroy Davis; and sisters, Sallie Brewer, Martha A. Matthews, Mary Helen Matthews, Rosie Lee Lenoir and Melvinnie Lenoir. 

He is survived by his wife, Ella R. Davis; sons, Perry Davis Jr. and Bradley Davis; daughters, Angela McFarland, Kathy Rainey and Melanie Davis; brothers, Willie James Davis, William Cherry and Robert Cherry; sisters, Minnie Edwards, Sennie Rush, Gloria Minor, Sadie Butler and Jolynn Levette; 11 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
