SULLIGENT, Ala. — Pauline Shackelford Howard, 92, died June 1, 2026, at her residence. 

Funeral services were at 11 a.m. Thursday, at the Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church with Glen Hughes officiating. Burial followed in the Pleasant Ridge Cemetery. Visitation was one hour prior to services at the church. Otts Funeral Home of Columbus was in charge of arrangements. 

Mrs. Howard was born January 11, 1934, in Peaceful Valley, to the late Claude Shackelford and Mary Neal Duncan. She was a member of Bartahatchie Baptist Church.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James Leon Howard; brothers, Everett Shackelford, Junior Shackelford and Darrel Shackelford; and sister, Maudine Webb. 

She is survived by her daughter, Jinny Stone of Sulligent; brothers, Rex E. Shackelford and Eddie Shackelford, both of Sulligent; sisters, Anne Phipps of Caledonia and Linda Hughes of Amory; two grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
