WEST POINT — Octavious Griffin, 80, died March 28, 2026, at Elmhurst Memorial Hospital in Elmhurst, Illinois. 

Funeral services will be at 3 p.m. at Mt. Zion M.B. Church in West Point, with Vernon Swift officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be from 4-5 p.m. Friday, at Carter’s Mortuary Service. Carter’s Mortuary Service of West Point is in changes or arrangements. 

Mr. Griffin was born June 20, 1945, in West Point, to the late James Chambers and Clode Sadie Griffin Swift. 

He is survived by his wife, Betty Griffin; sons, Octavious L. Griffin and Andre Lenior; brothers, Lee Ernest Griffin and Willie Frank Griffin; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
