COLUMBUS — Nicole Renee “Nikki” Lavender Cungious, 52, died Jan. 29, 2026, at St. Dominic Hospital in Jackson.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Hopewell M.B. Church. Burial will follow at Union Cemetery. Visitation is from 2-6 p.m. Friday at Carter’s Funeral Services. Carter’s Funeral Services of Columbus is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Cungious was born Dec. 21, 1973, in Columbus, to Willie B. Newman and the late Frances L. Lavender. She was a graduate of New Hope High School.

She was preceded in death by her brother, Darrell Lavender.

In addition to her father, she is survived by her husband, Marvin Cungious Sr. of Columbus; children, Abreanna Cungious, Franchesca Cungious and Marvin Cungious Jr., all of Columbus; and two grandchildren.

Pallbearers are Jarvis Ellis, Joseph Ellis Jr., Quincy Lavender, Samuel Allen, Terrell Jennings and Larry Williams.
