COLUMBUS — Nellie O’Neal Brewer, 90, died Nov. 15, 2025, at Baptist Memorial Hospital-Golden Triangle.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, at Southside M.B. Church, with the Rev. Rayfield Evins Jr. officiating. Burial will follow at Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be from 2-6 p.m. Friday, at Carter’s Funeral Services. Carter’s Funeral Services of Columbus is in charge of arrangements. 

Mrs. Brewer was born May 4, 1935, to the late James David O’Neal Sr. and Bertha Ann Petty O’Neal. She was formerly employed at Cross Road Truck Stop in Mayhew and Trinity Nursing Home. She was a member of Southside M.B. Church. 

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Howard Lee Brewer; and siblings, James D. O’Neal Jr., Cleveland O’Neal, Logan O’Neal, Jack O’Neal, Charlie

O’Neal, Mariah Jones and Daisy Mae O’Neal Longstreet.

She is survived by her children, Nedra Ann Brewer Smith and Cansandra Lasha Brewer Cox; one grandchild; and three great-grandchildren. 

Pallbearers will be Tony O’Neal, Vincent Bush, Carlos O’Neal, Johnny Fields, DeMario O’Neal, Chris Fields, Charlie Owens and Justin Stephenson.
