Mike Maloney

Micheal William Maloney died on Saturday May 2, 2026, at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Columbus.
Born on July 7, 1961, to parents John Maloney, D.C., and Janet Maloney in Vernon, Alabama, and grew up in Reform, Alabama.
Mike and his wife Midge have lived in Columbus, since 1981. When he was eighteen, he began working for Mitchell Engineering, hanging steel. Shortly thereafter, the company was renamed Ceco Building Systems, which is now Cornerstone. Mike worked for this company for 46 years and worked from home when he passed. He started out in the plant, which manufactured steel buildings; he worked his way up to the drafting department, where he became manager and programmed software for the company. Recently, he worked as Standards Corporate Manager. His work ethic was impeccable and appreciated by his peers.
Mike enjoyed a good cookout, fishing, and boating with his son Matt and his two grandchildren, Lucas and Leia Grace. He was a lifelong fan of University of Alabama football and loved watching the games with his late brother Danny Maloney and his brother Chris. He also enjoyed attending company conventions, where he got to meet the people that worked in other parts of the United States. These became lifelong friendships.
Mike loved to dance and he met his wife on the dancefloor, and they havebeen dancing ever since. Mike loved 1980’s music and frequently listened to it when he had a chance.
For the past fifteen years, he and his wife lived in historic southside Columbus, just blocks from downtown.
He is survived by his wife, Midge; his son, Matt Maloney; and his daughter, Julie Lingle; son-in-law, Glenn Lingle; his two grandchildren, Lucas and Leia Grace Maloney; his daughter-in-law, Hope Maloney; his brother, Chris Maloney; and sisters, Kathleen and Cheryl.
Mike was known to be a kind and loving person, and he will be greatly missed. The family would like to thank the many Cornerstone employees whosent flowers and hearfelt condolences.
