HAMILTON, Ala. — Michael Gay “Buddy” Lucas, 75, died June 26, 2025, in Vernon.

Private family funeral services were Saturday, at Liberty M.B. Church in Detroit, with Tim Harris officiating. Burial followed at the church cemetery. Otts Funeral Home of Sulligent was in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Lucas was born Aug. 15, 1949, in Lamar County, to the late Auther Lee Lucas and Shalar Bolin Lucas. He attended Sulligent schools and was formerly employed with NACCO. He was a member of LIberty M.B. Church.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings, Kathy Kay Lucas, Lovie Lucas, Beulah Mullins, Jerry Lucas, Rayburn Lucas, Garland Ray Lucas, Carl Lucas, Jody Lucas, Larry Lucas and W.T. Lucas.

He is survived by his wife, Martha Lucas of Hamilton; daughter, Marie Oakes of Vernon; and sister, Ruby Palmer of Hamilton.
