HAMILTON – Mattie “Matt Matt” Clara Williams Temple, 79, died May 5, 2026, at her residence. 

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, at Missionary Union Baptist Church in Columbus, with Claude Long officiating. Visitation will be 2-6 p.m. Friday, at Carter’s Funeral Services. Carter’s Funeral Services of Columbus is in charge of arrangements. 

Mrs. Temple was born November 16, 1946, in Macedonia, Alabama, to the late Milton Hill and Alice Merritt. She was a member of Canaan MB Church. 

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her daughters, Cynthia Carter and Tina Marie Hill. 

She is survived by her husband, Bruce “Wayne” Temple; children, Sophia H. McMillian, Tammie D. Warren, Jaqulyn Hill, Linda H. Tate, Audre Sanders and Velvet Hill; 21 grandchildren; 50 great-grandchildren;  and five great-great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Lawrence Hill, Landrick Hill, Tim Copes, John Keaton, Marcus Keaton and Martin Keaton.
