COLUMBUS — Mary Ann Young, 81, died March 22, 2026.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, at Mt. Ary M.B. Church, with the Rev. Billy Turner officiating. Burial will follow at Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be from  2-6 p.m. Friday, at Carter’s Funeral Services. Carter’s Funeral Services of Columbus is in charge of arrangements. 

Mrs. Young was born Oct. 27, 1944, in Columbus, to the late Johnnie Sykes and Clara Ellis Sykes. She was formerly employed at Arrowhead Water and Holistic Health Services. She was a member of Bible Enrichment Fellowship International Church. 

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond L. Young; son, Darryl Cockrell; and siblings, Jimmy Sykes, Lou Sykes and Emma Sykes-Hughes. 

She is survived by her children, Courtney Cockrell and Stephanie Young, both of Los Angeles, California, and Clara Joslen Pascascio of Long Beach, California; siblings, Johnnie Sykes, Willie Sykes, Annie Sykes-Bailey, Roger Sykes, Mattie Sykes and Charlie Sykes; seven grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. 

Pallbearers will be Devione Bailey, Delvin Robb, Green Bailey, Michael Bailey, Michael Highes and Unterrio Sykes.
