VERNON, Ala. — Mary Elaine Waldrop Vail, 70, died Jan. 28, 2026, at North Mississippi Medical Center in Hamilton, Alabama.

Funeral services are at 3:30 p.m. Tuesday, at Otts Funeral Home Chapel, with Aaron Lane officiating. Burial will follow at Oakes Chapel Baptist Church Cemetery in Vernon. Visitation is one hour prior to services at the funeral home. Otts Funeral Home of Sulligent is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Vail was born Nov. 25, 1955, in Vernon, to the late Norman and Biddie Waldrop. She was a 1974 graduate of Lamar County High School and was formerly employed with Chromolax. She was a member of Vibrant Church and Oakes Chapel Baptist Church.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Larry; and siblings, Maelene Collins, Bennie Waldrop and Wallace Waldrop.

She is survived by her daughter, Stephanie Wiggins; brother, Ray Waldrop; and two grandchildren.

Pallbearers are John Smith, Justin Abrams, Carter Abrams, Joey Vail, Harold Partain and Danny West.
