COLUMBUS — Mary Ellen Riordan, 91, died Jan. 3, 2026.

Burial will be held at a later date at Barrancas National Cemetery in Pensacola, Florida. Lowndes Funeral Home of Columbus is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Riordan was born April 19, 1934, in Gantt, Alabama, to the late Claude Aplin and Ellie Taylor Aplin. She attended Phillips High School in Birmingham and Annunciation Catholic Church.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, CMSgt. Jerry L. Riordan; and sister, Betty L. Parker.

She is survived by her children, Dorothy L. Burfeindt of Columbus, Ohio, Debbie L. Kaya of Gilbert, Arizona, and Patrick Riordan of Columbus; seven grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
