COLUMBUS — Mary Sue Hamm Rainwater, 95, died Dec. 26, 2025, at Generations of Vernon.

Graveside services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday, at Memorial Gardens, with the Rev. Ben Yarber officiating. Memorial Funeral Home and Crematory of Columbus is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Rainwater was born Dec. 4, 1930, in Fayette, Alabama, to the late Loy and Leron Moore Hamm. She was a graduate of Kennedy High School and was formerly employed at Winn Dixie and Fred’s. She was a member of Canaan Baptist Church. 

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John C. Rainwater; brother, Joe Hamm and Jimmy Hamm; and sister, Peggy Guest. 

She is survived by her sons, Don Rainwater of Columbus and Ed Rainwater Vernon, Alabama; daughters, Pat Davis of Vernon and Jan Bradley of Navarre, Florida; eight grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren.
