STARKVILLE — Mary Louise “Pilou” Lowery, 91, died Nov. 28, 2025, at Baptist Memorial Hospital-Oktibbeha County.

Funeral services will be at noon Monday, at Peter’s Rock Family Center Church of God in Christ, with Joseph L. Hawkins officiating. Burial will follow at Zion Franklin Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2-6 p.m. Sunday at Hairston and Hairston Funeral Homes. Hairston and Hairston Funeral Homes of Starkville are in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Lowery was born April 28, 1934, in Crawford, to the late Alex Lowery Sr. and Mellie Stallings. She was a member of Morning Star Baptist Church of East St. Louis, Illinois and Peter’s Rock Family Worship Center Church of God in Christ.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her siblings, Alex Jr., Willie, Bob and Marian.

She is survived by her daughters, Shay and Cookie; sisters, Brenda Hicks and Carlinda Lowery; six grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers are Marlon Browder, Monta Mason, David Prater, Kenneth Hampton and Jacob Reese.
