COLUMBUS — Mary Ree Lewis, 84, died July 16, 2025, in Columbus.
Funeral services will be at 3 p.m. Saturday, at New Zion Pilgrim M.B. Church, with the Rev. Christopher Wriley officiating. Burial will follow at the church cemetery. Visitation is from 2-6 p.m. Friday at Carter’s Funeral Services. Carter’s Funeral Services of Columbus is in charge of arrangements.
Ms. Lewis was born April 4, 1941, in Macon, to the late Fessor Ree Lewis Sr. and Classie Hill. She was formerly employed as a cook and custodian at Joe Cook, Union Academy and Hunt High School and was a member of New Zion Pilgrim M.B. Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her siblings, Mary Ward, Sammie Lewis, Gleen Lewis, James Hill, Les Tate, L.B. Brooks, Willie Stewart, Curtis Stewart, Calvin Stewart and Allen Brooks.
She is survived by her daughter, Mary Ann Moore; siblings, Charlene Hendrick, Fessor R. Lewis Jr., Flossie Beasly, Charlie Lewis, Coldelia White, Linda Mathis, Beverly Knox, Shirley Taylor, Carey Lewis, Mary Golden, Hattie Bailey, Betty Dismuke, Diane Hill, N.S. Brooks and Isaac Brooks; four grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Bobby Harris, Arkedia Parker, Markis White, Ben Deloach, Keith Brooks and Issac Brooks.
