MACON — Mary Jean Cockrell, 67, died July 14, 2025, at her residence.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Sunday, at Mt. Carmel M.B. Church, with the Rev. Jack Vaughn officiating. Burial will follow at the church cemetery. Visitation is from 2-5 p.m. Saturday at Carter’s Funeral Services. Carter’s Funeral Services of Macon is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Cockrell was born June 14, 1958, in Macon, to the late Jimmy Lee Neal Sr. and Lillie Bell Cockrell. She was a 1976 graduate of Noxubee County High School and a member of Mt. Carmel M.B. Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Joe L. Taylor; children, Nike Cockrell Stewart, Lillian Cockrell and Travis Cockrell; and siblings, Min. Pauline Grisson, Paula Neal, Essie Neal, Paul Cockrell and Ronnie Cockrell.
She is survived by her children, Lovelillie Cockrell of Brooksville and Robert Cockrell of Macon; siblings, Joann Brandon, Linda Cockrell, Bessie Glenn, Sarah Pippin, Sarah Graham, Rufus Cockrell and Jimmy Lee Neal Sr., all of Macon; 10 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Demone Cunningham, Antraveon Cockrell-Stewart, Jaylon Stewart, Antonio Stewart, Kendrick Slaughter, David F. Brandon, Lequeint Brandon, Tavoris Slaughter, Ron C. Cockrell and Somijae Brandon.
