MACON — Margaret Ruth Macon, 89, died Dec. 17, 2025, at Baptist Memorial Hospital-Golden Triangle.

Funeral services are at 2 p.m. Saturday, at Toliver Chapel Baptist Church, with Lewis Murray officiating. Burial will follow at Toliver Chapel Cemetery. Visitation was Friday at Lee-Sykes Funeral Home Chapel. Lee-Sykes Funeral Home of Macon is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Macon was born Aug. 5, 1936, in Noxubee County, to the late Willie Mae Jones Bankhead and Benson Bankhead. She was a graduate of Brooksville school and Mary Holmes College and was formerly employed with Germent Plant. She was a member of Toliver Chapel Baptist Church.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Carl Evens Macon; five siblings; and one grandchild.

She is survived by her children, Barbara Macon, Teskesia Gordon, Toby McCarter and Tabitha McCarter; siblings, Benson Bankhead, John and Ray Bankhead, Annie Bishop, Alberta Bankhead and Frances Malone; and four grandchildren.
