VERNON, Ala. — Margaret Elaine Carr, 88, died Sept. 2, 2025, at Generations of Vernon. 

Funeral services were at 2 p.m. Saturday, at Chandler Funeral Home, with Carlos Dean officiating. Burial followed at Lamar Memory Gardens. Visitation was one hour prior to services at the funeral home. Chandler Funeral home of Vernon was in charge of arrangements. 

Mrs. Carr was born March 2, 1937, in Lamar County, Alabama, to the late Tol and Bessie Anderson. She was formerly employed as a secretary at Lamar County DHR and was a member of Friendship South Baptist Church. 

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Billy Carr; sisters, Elizabeth Barnes and Jonnie Smith;and brother, Billy Rex Anderson. 

She is survived by her sister, Mary Lois Chaffin of Vernon. 

Pallbearers were Wayne Barnes, Tim Barnes, Jess Barnes, Easton Aldridge, Blake Stephens and Chad Aldridge.
