BROOKLYN, N.Y. — Maggie Gavin Poole, 86, died Oct. 6, 2025.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, at Bigbee Valley C.M.E. in Brooksville, with the Rev. Jessie Gavin officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be from 2-5 p.m. Friday, at Carter’s Funeral Services. Carter’s Funeral Services of Macon is in charge of arrangements. 

Mrs. Poole was born March 22, 1939, in Noxubee County, to the late Frank Gavin Sr. and Mattie B. Gavin. She was formerly employed as a nurse at Florence Nightingale Nursing Home in Brooklyn. 

She is survived by her children, Michelle Poole, Brenda Poole McCray and Steve Poole, all of Brooklyn; siblings, Mary Jean Morton of Ridley, Tennessee, and Velma Gavin of Cleveland, Ohio; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
