WEST POINT — Lurenda Chandler, 83, died May 24, 2014, at North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo. Services are 1 p.m. Friday at Hopewell MB Church in Cedar Bluff, with the Rev. Elbert Lee officiating. Burial will follow at Lower Prairie Creek Cemetery. Visitation is today from 3-6 p.m. at Carter’s Mortuary Services Chapel in Columbus. Mrs. Chandler was born March 4, 1931, in Cedar Bluff, to the late Hunter and Carrie Cummings. She was formerly employed with Bryan Foods. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Silee Chandler; two brothers, Fluitt Cummings and Jeff Cummings; and three sisters, Annie Bell Gordan, Susie Mae Lofton, and Mary Lee Sims. She is survived by eight sons, Henry Chandler, Titus Chandler, Tony Chandler, Amos Chandler, Vernell Chandler, Kent Chandler, Billy Chandler and Joe Chandler; three daughters, Lou Ann Edwards, Bernell Gentry and Linda Chandler; one sister, Lorean Gilbert; 19 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren.
