VERNON, Ala. — Loventrice Crossley, 77, died Jan. 31, 2026, at her residence. 

Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, at Chandler Funeral Home, with James Godsey officiating. 

Ms. Crossley was born Jan. 10, 1949, to the late Willie Aubrey and Eva Mae Simpson. She was formerly employed as a seamstress and running a paper route. 

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Leroy Simpson; and sisters, Katheline Bethune and Willie Mae Durette. 

She is survived by her daughter, Melissa White of Vernon; son, Shane Hassell of Vernon; sisters, Etoy Palmer, Rosie McMillan and Shirley Holliday; brother, Tommy Simpson; six grandchildren; and great-grandchildren.
