STARKVILLE — Louise Bryany Gavien, 71, died Jan. 28, 2026, at Baptist Memorial Hospital-Golden Triangle.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, at North Montgomery Church of Christ, with Daniel McCollum officiating. Burial will follow at Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Visitation will be from 1-5 p.m. Tuesday, at Hairston and Hairston Funeral Home. Hairston and Hairston Funeral Home of Starkville is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Gavien was born Jan. 13, 1955, in Clarksdale, to the late Melvin and Willie Johnson Bryant. She attended Parker High School in Chicago, Illinois and was formerly employed as a supervisor in the bakery at Walmart. She was a member of North Montgomery Church of Christ.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Jimmie Gavien; and brothers, Charles Bryant, Robert Bryant, Melvin Bryant and JW Bryant.
She is survived by her children, Marlon Bryant and Melanie Gibson; sisters, Elouise Young of Starkville and Carolyn James of Sarasota, Florida; and two grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Kenneth Gibbs, Glover Young, Kenny Young, Payl Cribbs and Eric Young.
