CEDAR BLUFF — Leora Hodnett, 84, died May 19, 2026, at her residence.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, at Palestine Methodist Church in Montpelier, with James Towery officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to service at the church. Calvert Funeral home of West Point is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Hodnett was born June 16, 1941, in Clay County, to the late Wiliam Stevens and Elsie Cliett Lofton. She was formally employed as a Secretary for the Clay County School System and she was a member of Palestine Methodist Church.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, J.T. Hodnett; and her sister, Deborah Watson.
She is survived by her daughters, Michelle Hodnett of Pheba and Kelly Gaskin of Cedar Bluff; sons, Raymon Hodnett of West Point, David Hodnet, Alan Hodnett, both of Cedar Bluff and Terry Hodnett of Maben; sister, Rose Ann Wilson of Cedar Bluff; brother, Russell Lifton of Pheba; 11 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be James Scott, Tyler Hodnett, Walker Hodnett, Brady Gaskin, Wesley Gaskin and Kyle Scott.
