Leavester Stanton

COLUMBUS — Leavester “Pig” Stanton, 69, died Oct. 28, 2025, at Baptist Memorial Hospital-Golden Triangle.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, at St. Michael’s U.M. Church, with CK Butler Sr. officiating. Burial will follow at the church cemetery. Visitation is from 1-5 p.m. Friday at Carter’s Funeral Services. Carter’s Funeral Services of Macon is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Stanton was born Oct. 6, 1956, in Noxubee County, to Bessie Colbert Cheatham and the late Jordan Cheatham Sr. She was a member of the House of God Church of the Living God.
In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by her siblings, Jordan Cheatham Jr., Alma Thomas and Will C. Cheatham.
In addition to her mother, she is survived by her husband, Perry Stanton Sr. of Columbus; children, Shanta Stanton, Perry Stanton Jr., Brian Stanton and Aaron Stanton, all of Columbus; and siblings, John Cheatham, Mattie Lee Bush, Joyce Skinner, Julius Cheatham, Elizabeth Cheatham, James Earl Cheatham, Ophina Cheatham, Jean Smith, June Brown and Harold Brown, all of Macon, Elise Stanton of Steens, Regina Cheatham of Columbus, Robert John Cheatham of Prentiss, and Marie Turnipseed of Starkville.
Pallbearers are Perry Stanton Jr., Aaron Stanton, Willie Slaughter Jr., Brian Stanton, Christopher Denman and Charles Gillespie Jr.
