NOXUBEE COUNTY — Lawyer Howlett Jr., 70, died Aug. 9, 2025, at the University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, at Calvary M.B. Church in Shuqualak, with Theodore Chamberlain officiating. Burial will follow at Slaughter Cemetery. Visitation is from 1-5 p.m. Friday at Carter’s Funeral Services. Carter’s Funeral Services of Macon is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Howlett was born Feb. 23, 1955, in Noxubee County, to the late Lawyer Howlett Sr. and Girtha Howlett.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Lemar, Leon, Willie, Tommie and James Howlett.

He is survived by his children, Tameisha Bryant and Deon Bryant, both of Atlanta, Georgia, Sinthia Stewart of New Jersey, Berdanette Robertson of Brandon, and Nathaniel McKeithan of Shuqualak; siblings, Willie Mae Clark of Haines City, Florida, Peggy Burrage and Terry Howlett, both of Shuqualak; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
